film diary 5 - delicatessen

Very surreal and sensual, but delicately written and filmed! It is a dark comedy with very strong individual style. No wonder Jeunet can direct Aimeli ten years later. A person who can alleviate the heaviness of human cannibalism and makes it into a fantasy can make any films that he likes. When the butcher and the beauty made love, all the other tenants made sounds in accord with the bumping of the mattress. That scene is from a genius' talent. Dominique Pinon and Marie-Laure Dougnac's duet is also impressive.

I got Andrew Osmond's Satoshi Kon. It seems to be the only western scholarly work on Satoshi Kon. It is not like a regular academic book, but more like a Japanese manga. The print quality is superb. I love it!!!
